BUGS Share New Single + Announce Sophomore Album

Brissy’s endearing pop trio Bugs are today returning with their new single ‘Something’s Bound To Go Bad’. The release is the third taste of their highly anticipated upcoming record ‘Self Help’ due out September 20.

The release comes with the news that Bugs will support Grinspoon on their national ‘Chemical Hearts’ tour, joined by The Hard Aches and The Gooch Palms in October and November, plus an appearance at Yours & Owls in early October.

The catchy, heartfelt single showcases vocalist Connor Brooker’s knack for strong, honest and introspective songwriting, and the band’s pop-punk sensibilities.

I wrote this song after an intimate relationship had broken down,” says Connor of the latest release. “I was crushed in the period following as I hadn’t seen it coming at all; but slowly as time passed and my emotions stabilised I could view the whole situation much more rationally.”

“Sometimes you are so focused on where you’re trying to get that you don’t realise the wheels are falling off on the way there. I lost sight of my own ambition by trying to fill a gap that existed because we simply weren’t right for each other. Eventually she decided it was time to finish things, and though it took some time to understand, I recognise it was for the best now. Growth is rarely painless.”

The band is itching to get on the road with Grinspoon later in the year, with Connor saying this of the upcoming tour:

“Brock, Jordan and I are so thankful for the opportunity to play such enormous rooms with Grinspoon later in the year - they will be the biggest shows we have ever done. It’s a bucket list moment getting to play with your heroes, particularly when they are bonafide legends of Australian music. Our friends The Hard Aches are on for the full run of shows too so it will be a big family affair. From what I have heard, we will make pals with Gooch Palms in no time. We’re all over the moon and still kind of pinching ourselves that we’re so lucky. I think we are all super excited to learn the ropes when it comes to a bigger scale operation, I’ll be soaking every experience in like a sponge. They are going to be some really nice shows.”

Bugs’ own drummer, Brock Weston recorded and mixed the track at Bedlam Studios. The band also worked with Tyson Ruth from Studio Truth who mastered the final product.
